The Idea
While I was playing Veggie Patch, then writing a review about it, and came across a PNP board game competition, I felt instantly inspired. This is what I’m looking for. Minimal components, clever ideas, and if possible, free—or pay-what-you-want. When I thought of minimal components, cheap printing came to mind too, meaning a black-and-white visual style right away.
The print and play format matters because it ensures that only as many copies are made as will actually get played—and that happens right there, on the spot, where people are playing. I jotted down an idea almost immediately, and—as it often goes—I carried it around in my head for weeks before finally trying it out. And it worked.

About the Game
At its core, this started out as a two-player game idea, and it might still work best that way—but the rulebook also includes a solo mode and suggestions for 3–4 players as well.
With 2 players, the game takes around 15 minutes, while with more players, it's about 20–30 minutes. I recommend it from age 7 and up, though I can imagine that some more experienced 6-year-olds could handle it just fine too.

How to Play
At the start of the game, you roll 6 dice and freely write the rolled values on one of the cards—this will be the starting setup. Each player gets 4 cards, and in each round, using a dice selection mechanism, you write numbers onto your two active cards.
Whenever one of your cards is completed, you must immediately place it onto the shared area.
The goal is to connect to as many other cards and numbers as possible, since this is how you score points.
The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
