Cute Coloring Pages

Coloring activities offer great fun for several age groups and they develop skills like hand strength and fine motor skills, too. Here's a great selection of coloring pages with cute characters.

Let's add a PlayWise twist that goes beyond coloring! This page helps you to create

  • a fun gaming activity for your kids or students

  • your own coloring page with AI - have you ever thought of printing and coloring your child's dream last night?

Hand Picked Favorite Cute Coloring Pages

Our founder, Máté has sat down with her 7 year old daughter to come up with the cutest coloring pages according to her. So these are indeed really cute, right!?

Turn coloring into real gaming

As cute and useful as these pages are, you might use this time to throw two birds with one stone The coloring activity however also provides a great opportunity to infuse some elements of gaming to it.

Game Idea #1: A Coloring Page Adventure with Dice

Preparations

  1. Print this page for everyone

  2. Look at the picture and see different parts you can color (like arms, trees) Suggestion: pick big areas.

  3. Pick 6 colors and have markers or crayons ready

  4. Use a dice to choose colors (like 1 for blue, 2 for yellow, etc.)

Print This Rule

How to play:

  1. Take turns rolling the dice onto your picture

  2. The number it lands on tells you which color to use

  3. Try to roll the dice so it lands on a part you haven't colored yet.

  4. If the dice falls off the picture or on a part already colored, you get to try 2 more times.

  5. If you still can't land it right after 3 rolls, wait for your next turn (Little kids can have more tries!)

    How to win

Be the first to color your whole picture! Let's color and have lots of fun!

Game idea #2: A Dice-Driven Coloring Challenge

Getting Ready

What You Need: Each player needs a coloring page. You can all have the same picture or choose different ones for fun.

Pick Your Colors: Everyone gets to pick 6 colors. Think about what colors will make your picture look the best.

Get Your Coloring Tools Ready: You can use colored pencils, crayons, or markers for your colors.

Roll the Dice: Use a classic, six-sided dice to play.

Decide on Colors for Numbers: Before you start, decide which color matches each number on the dice. For example, if you roll a six, you might color with lemon yellow.

Print This Rule

How to play

Divide Your Picture: Look at your coloring page and see the different parts, like a dog's tail or eye.

Choose Secret Colors: Pick 2 of your 6 colors as your special ones. Don't tell anyone! You can even color a little piece of paper with those colors and hide it so it's a surprise.

Scoring Points: If you color parts of your picture with your secret colors, you get points! One point for each part colored on your page, and two points if the same part is colored with your colors on someone else's page.

Taking Turns: Players take turns choosing a part of the picture to color. When it's your turn, roll the dice to see which color you use.

Changing Your Mind: If you roll a color but think it might help someone else score, you can pick a different color. But, there's a twist! You can only lift your coloring tool from the paper as many times as the number you rolled. If it's too hard, you can finish coloring that part later.

Finish Coloring: The game goes on until everyone has colored their whole picture.

Who Wins? After everyone is done coloring, count your points. The player with the most points wins!

"This is pretty bad, I hate these colors!" - A real and honest user feedback from a 5 year old

Seasonal cute coloring pages April, 2024

April's seasonal themes often celebrate spring, growth and the awakening of nature. Here's a couple of matching, but still cute coloring pages.

Spring flowers

Easter

Earth day: 22nd of April

Note

You can use these themes characters in decorations, greeting cards, educational materials, and various forms of media to evoke the essence of April and the joy of spring.

From the internet

Their selection has the advantage of all of the coloring pages having larger shapes which makes them easier to color for younger kids.

From Fortnite to Stranger Things and simple ducks to more detailed images of kids.

An almost infinite source with several filters on the Freepik site which might prove to be a bit overwhelming.

All of these are indeed cute and indeed animals with large shapes for easy filling. Ideal for our game idea #1!

Well categorized, easy to sort through and with much less ads than most of the other pages!

These are a bit more catered towards older kids as the characters are more detailed.

Would you have thought there's a whole website for cute coloring pages? Well this is it, coloring pages organized to various season or character based themes.

A long dump of coloring pages which is somewhat hard to go through, still the coloring pages themselves are pretty cute indeed.

Pinterest is a good source even for coloring pages, this selection is catered to themes usually considered "girly", ideal for older kids as again the shapes are pretty detailed.

Draw your own with AI tools!

These cute coloring pages above were created by Dall-E, an AI image generator. Did you know you also can do this? Here's exactly what we asked it to do:

"I would like to ask for a cute coloring page from you, which can be printed out and colored together with my daughter. I would like to request a cute elephant that is going somewhere. There can be a plant or two around it, but essentially the elephant should be the focus. It is important that this will be a printable coloring page, so only the outlines are needed, as is customary with coloring pages. Thank you!"

It's important to phrase the requests precisely. We emphasized that these would be coloring pages, so we asked for no colors, just outlines in black and white, in a printable format. Sometimes we requested additional elements like fish or puddles. Occasionally, we had to ask for a redraw, but overall, we are happy with the results. We hope you are too! Feel free to use these or generate your own coloring pages. We recommend our game rule ideas for any coloring page!

Oh, and where is Dall-E exactly? It's available in ChatGPT which you can sign up for here.

Create even more professional coloring pages

https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Make-a-Coloring-Book/ - this tutorial takes a pretty unique and fun angle: turning your own family fotos to coloring books! such fun indeed.

From Fortnite to Stranger Things and simple ducks to more detailed images of kids.

A deep dive into adobe illustrator and vector graphics.

Takes a more professional oriented spin in that she talks about how you can design and actually publish your own coloring book and use it to potentially build an income stream out of it.

What I love about this tutorial is that it combines handcraft to the whole process: instead of starting out with editing apps, here the whole process starts with actually drawing on paper and then scanning them.

This tutorial takes a pretty unique and fun angle: turning your own family fotos to coloring books! such fun indeed.
